Thunkable introduced me to a dimension of educational technology that is often overlooked in traditional curricula: student-as-creator. Rather than consuming digital content, Thunkable invites learners to build functional mobile applications using visual block-based logic — no prior coding experience required.
What Makes It Powerful
The platform's drag-and-drop interface makes app development accessible to students at various levels, from middle school through higher education. I explored its potential for project-based learning, where students could build real apps connected to curriculum themes — a science quiz app, a language learning tool, or a community resource guide.
The creative freedom it offers is genuinely exciting. Students must think logically, plan their user experience, and debug their own creations — developing critical thinking and computational reasoning alongside content knowledge.

Deevi AI represents a new frontier in instructional content creation: the ability to produce narrated, visually structured educational videos from text prompts alone. For educators who want to create engaging explainer content, lecture supplements, or student-facing tutorials without professional recording equipment or editing skills, Deevi AI offers a compelling solution.
During my exploration, I was struck by the platform's speed. A well-crafted prompt could yield a complete video segment — complete with AI narration, visual transitions, and structured content — within minutes. This has enormous implications for teachers who want to build flipped classroom content, provide review materials, or differentiate instruction through varied media formats.
The AI narration quality has improved significantly, making the outputs genuinely usable in academic settings rather than feeling gimmicky or mechanical.

Of all the tools I explored, Nearpod most directly connects digital technology to the live classroom experience. It transforms traditional presentations into interactive learning sessions where students participate in real time — answering polls, collaborating on virtual boards, responding to open-ended questions, and receiving immediate feedback.

This course changed the way I see my role as an educator. Before EDLD-5303, I thought about technology in education largely in instrumental terms — a tool is useful, or it is not. What Dr. Harrison's course helped me understand is that the more important question is: how does this technology serve the learner?
Exploring these five platforms side by side forced me to think across multiple dimensions simultaneously — pedagogical design, student accessibility, cognitive load, formative feedback, and creative potential. I found myself asking not just "can students use this?" but "does this deepen learning in ways that other methods cannot?"
That shift — from consumer to critical analyst of educational technology — is the most significant growth I experienced in this course. It connects directly to my future work as an educator who wants to make thoughtful, evidence-informed decisions about digital tools.
